Anita Sarkeesian (Canadian-American) is a feminist media critic as well as a public speaker, and Canadian. Feminist Frequency provides videos, comments and an analysis of portrayals in popular cultures. Anita Sarkeesian is an award-winning Canadian-American feminist media critic and blogger. Feminist Frequency examines the way women are represented in popular culture. Committed to destroying the stereotypes of women that exist in pop media, she is also working with issues that relate to the targeted harassment women and other classes of people online. Sarkeesian, who holds a Master's in Social and Political Thought in the field of social and political thought from York University, is a popular public speaker. She has delivered speeches at TEDxWomen XOXO festival and United Nations Broadband Working Group to Gender. When she was a student at the university she became interested in the issues surrounding gender equality and the rights of women at an early stage. She was a young woman who wanted to create the series of videos on the internet that would examine gender representations in games. But, she was victimized by online harassment. This attack was not enough to halt her. Instead, it increased her importance as a feminist and media critique. Numerous awards have been given to her as a way of acknowledging all the contributions that she contributed to. Anita Sarkeesian has been a journalist for a long time and was the creator of Feminist Frequency. The educational nonprofit explores women's representations in pop culture narratives.
